Clinics
We run a range of clinics. For an appointment or further details, please call our main surgery on 01536 204154.
Antenatal Clinic
This clinic is run every day by the midwives. If you become pregnant, you will be given a 'booking appointment' at which the midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks. You will be seen regularly throughout your pregnancy either at the practice or at the local hospital, or both.
Postnatal Clinic
These are carried out by the doctor during normal surgery times.
Baby Clinic And Child Health Immunisations
The baby clinics are run by health visitors for child development checks and immunisations and allow an opportunity to discuss other problems, eg sleeping, feeding and child health worries. Please telephone 01536 204154 for an appointment. The doctors carry out child health surveillance checks by appointment in normal surgeries.
Health Monitoring Clinics
Annual checks are performed by our doctors and nursing team. The clinics offer advice and general health checkups to patients with chronic illnesses. These include diabetes, asthma, hypertension, thyroid, heart disease and other chronic disease clinics.
Minor Surgery
Minor operations can be done in our treatment room. Please discuss this with your doctor who will then arrange for you to be given an appointment.
Stopping Smoking
Run by our nurse practitioners, this clinic gives advice and support to patients trying to give up smoking.
Family Planning
Contraceptive care is provided by all the doctors and nurses during surgery hours.
Well Woman Clinics
This clinic is run by the nurses for smears and discussion on women's health issues.
Non-NHS Examinations
The doctors are happy to carry out medicals, eg insurance and driving licence, by appointment. Please telephone the surgery for an appointment. Do ask at reception for the charges for these services. Patient paternity testing and employment medicals are also undertaken.
Patients Over 75 Years
If you are aged 75 years or over, you should be seen annually either by your doctor, the practice nurse, district nurse or health visitor. This can be arranged at the surgery or, if that is not possible, a home visit will be arranged.
Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations/Travel Health Advice
Please make an appointment at least four weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. Lakeside Surgery is an authorised Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is held at reception.
Flu Vaccination
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, residents of nursing and rest homes and everyone aged 65 and over.
Alternative Therapies - Private
By appointment: Osteopathy, Homeopathy and Hypnotherapy.
Please ask at reception for details.
