COVID-19 Vaccination Update March 9th 2021
Cohort 7 and 8 patients
Patients in cohorts 7 (60 - 64-year-olds) and 8 (55 - 59-year-olds) are currently being contacted either by letter or text by the National Booking Service inviting them to book their vaccination at mass vaccination sites or at a community pharmacy.
As per our recent updates, our current priority, as set out by NHS England, is completing the vaccination of patients in cohorts 5 and 6 along with any in the top 4 cohorts who, having previously not taken up the offer of a vaccination have subsequently changed their minds.
When we have completed the vaccination of these groups, we will be able to invite patients in cohort 7 to be vaccinated at our vaccination centre. Cohort 8 patients will then follow upon completion of the vaccination of cohort 7.
We ask that cohort 7 and 8 patients do not contact the surgery to ask when they will be vaccinated.
Cohort 6 Patients
Patients in cohort 6 remain the focus for first dose vaccinations at our vaccination centres. New clinics have recently been added and patient invites issued. We aim to have invited all cohort 6 patients before the end of the month. We ask that cohort 6 patients do not contact the surgery to ask when they will be vaccinated.
We are currently vaccinating unpaid adult carers as part of the JCVI priority list group 6 (Those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person or child who is at increased risk of COVID-19 mortality and therefore clinically vulnerable). If you are an adult carer, you can either:
- Wait to be contacted by your GP or local vaccination service to invite you to attend an appointment at your local vaccination centre.
- Make an appointment at a large vaccination sites, by visiting www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination, or calling 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week. To ensure you are eligible to attend as part of this group, you must also be eligible for carers allowance OR be registered as a carer with your GP or the County Council
Cohort 5 Patients
We have now been informed by NHS England that from March 15th we can proactively invite any patients in cohort 5 that have still to be vaccinated. If any of our cohort 5 patients (aged 65-69) are awaiting their vaccination, you do not need to contact the surgery. You will automatically receive an invite as soon as we have confirmed vaccine delivery dates.
During the second half of the month, as well as continuing to provide first dose clinics, we will commence second dose clinics. At the same time, we are continuing to maintain core services in our practice. We would like to thank those patients who continue to treat our staff and volunteers with patience, kindness, and respect at a time when our teams are working under increased pressure to keep you safe and well. It is very much appreciated.
