Lakeside Chair awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of GPs

Congratulations to Lakeside’s Chair Dr Sanjay Gadhia who has been accepted as a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

The award, which requires detailed evidence and the support of two GP colleagues, is the highest grade of membership that GPs can attain and recognises the ‘significant contribution’ made to the profession.

Dame Clare Gerada, President of the RCGP wrote: ‘RCGP fellowship is our highest grade of membership and is the ultimate honour and achievement for GPs who have made a significant contribution to general practice. It is a mark of achievement recognising a significant contribution to: health and welfare of the community; science or practice of medicine; to the aims of RCGP, or other organisations which benefit general practice.’

Dr Gadhia joined Lakeside in Corby as a trainee in 2004 and was appointed permanently as a GP two years later. He combined his clinical work with managerial roles including ICB Clinical Lead, Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chair before taking on his current role.

Former Corby GP Dr Hanish Kundaje, who now works in a sister Lakeside practice, was also awarded Fellowship. Both doctors will attend a formal Fellowship ceremony later in the year.
